I'm a 47 year-old mother of 3 (3 kids, 3 dogs) and am training for....well.....life! I train out of my garage in Charlotte, NC, and I have been reaping the benefits of Zach's wise coaching since 2017. Before that, I was on a bumpy road of overzealous overtraining, multiple injuries, a couple surgeries, rehab, rinse, repeat. I asked Zach to be my coach when I realized I could not be responsible for my own programming. It was one of the best decisions of my life.
In addition to excellent programming and technique coaching, Zach has helped me learn to have patience with the process, to maintain a positive mindset, and to take seriously all the crucial elements of recovery (sleep, stress management, nutrition, mindfulness, etc). Since working with him, I have resolved my old injuries without getting any new ones. I've also gotten much stronger in all my lifts such that I recently needed to buy more bumper plates! Plus, I have gotten back to Oly lifting, which I enjoy immensely.
Sometimes my neighbors will ask me what I'm training for, as I drag my weighted sled down the street. A competition? An obstacle race? What? I usually just answer with one word - LIFE! (I have to keep my answer short because my neighborhood is hilly and i'm quite out of breath). I'm not looking to compete or race. I just train for the love of training, for the love of moving and moving well, for the love of being strong. Also so I can easily manage walking 3 big dogs at the same time. I'm fitter and healthier now than I have ever been, and I hope to stay this way - or better - because the stronger I am, the more dogs I can walk!
